"Yuyake koyake"*

The inner three rings appear to rotate counterclockwise. Moreover, when observers fix their eyes on the center and approach or move away from the image, the inner rings appear to rotate clockwise or counterclockwise, respectively.

"Rotation of the earth"

The two images are the same, but the rotation of the left earth appears to proceed as compared with that of the right one.

"Demon eyes"

The two red lights appear to change in lightness when observers move their eyes. Moreover, the left disk appears to rotate clockwise while the right counterclockwise.

"Reversal of rotating sea snakes"

The left circle appears to rotate counterclockwise while the right clockwise, though the wavy pattern of the left is just the same as that of the right.

"Bifidobacteria"

Horizontally aligned rows of bacteria appear to tilt.In addition, gray bacteria appear to be slightly tinted reddish.

"Four cards"

It appears as if there were blue and green gratings, though they are of the same color.

Albert pointed out that the apparent blue and green gratings are really different in color. This error occurred in the downsizing process with antialiasing.from the high-resolution (giant) bitmap (12000 x 4957 pixel). The image shown below is an image without antialiasing, in which the gratings are just the same color (R = 0, G = 255, B = 151). <July 12, 2008>

"Checkerboard of flowers"

The image appears to scintillate. Illusory orange appears to be induced in the center of each blue flower while illusory blue appears to be seen in the center of each orange flower.
