The nearer slope is a steep descent (3.5 deg) and the farther one is a loose descent (0.8 deg) , but the latter appears to be an ascent. Sometimes the former, too, appears to be an ascent.


See the right road. The nearer slope is a loose ascent (0.8 deg) and the farther one is a steep ascent (3.5 deg) , but the former appears to be an descent. The left road is an even steeper ascent (4.5 deg).

This illusion spot was recently (in 2010 or 2011) discovered by Kasumi Ohsaki and Hisanori Ohsaki and promoted by Toshiaki Ohkida.
