Centipedes appear to move. When observers fix their eyes on the center and approach or move away from the image, rings appear to rotate. In addition, the physically concentric rings appear to be distorted.

The surround appears to rotate clockwise while the inset counterclockwise. Tilted squares are alinged vertically or horizontally, but the alignments appear to tilt.
