Mirrored images on the surface of water appears to be taller than the original ones.

Actually, the mirrord images are slightly shorter than the original ones.
Waves or distortion on the surface of water does not give a critical effect of overestimation.
Fakes also work. (@Okazaki, Japan)

Law of sines gives:
ho / sin (θo) = l / sin (α)
ho / sin (θm) = l / sin (β)
sin (θo) - sin (θm) = ho (sin (α) - sin (β)) / l > 0 because (α > β) and (0 <α,β < π/2)
Therefore, θo > θm
