Jizo-bon

A local festival for children held just after "obon" (in late August)


The festival starts when obo-san (a priest of Buddhism) prays for an ojizo-san (Jizo-bosatsu, kind of "Buddha")


Ojizo-san, a guardian for children who usually stands alone outdoors.


Juzu-kuri, a ceremony in which children together rotate a big juzu (a set of beads penetrated by a cord)

There are a small number of big beads in a juzu. If a child picks up one and taps his/her forehead with it, it is believed that he/she get luck.
