"Position illusion of the eye color constancy images"

The two middle images, which show illusory blue color in the right eye, are aligned horizontally, but the left image appears to be placed at an upper position than the right one.

"Eye color constancy images"

"Surprize face and Three holes"

In the upper image, the gap between the upper two black circles appears to be larger than the diameter of the lower circle, though they are the same length (Zanforlin illusion). In the lower image, the gap between the lower two black ellipses appears to be larger than the diameter of the upper ellipse, though they are the same horizontal width (maybe Morinaga misalignment illusion).

"Corridor illusion on a railway"

The upper-right person appears to be larger than the lower-left one, though they are the same size.

"Underestimation of Mt. Fuji"

The left Fuji appears to be smaller than the right one, though they are the same size.

"Tricolore tilt illusion"

Three gray line segments appear to tilt counterclockwise though they are horizontal. This tilt illusion is the Café Wall illusion.

"3D-like Jastrow illusion"

The uppermost object appears to be the smallest though the four are of the same size.

"Flying squirrel and Barrel"

(A remake)

The left image appears to be concave while the right one convex, though they consist of only squares.

The original images were produced before 1996

"Visiome tilt illusion"

Each rectangular pink background appears to be distorted in which the outer side appears to be longer than the inner one (Ehrenstein illusion).

Ehrenstein illusion (Ehrenstein, 1925)

"Kenkyusha tilt illusion"

kenkyusha = researcher

Rows of characters appear to tilt, though they are horizontal.

"Flying squirrel"

(A remake)

The image appears to be distorted though it consists of only squares.

"Underestimation of the height of a fat person, with the head size constant"

The fatter the person is, the smaller he/she appears than he/she is. In contrast, the slimmer the person is, the taller he/she appears than he/she is. This effect does not seem to be so strong in more natural images.

cf.

"Overestimation of the longer axis of an ellipse"

The slimmer the ellipse is, the longer its longer axis appears than it is.

"Underestimation of the height of a fat person, with the head size scale-variant"

The fatter the person is, the smaller he/she appears than he/she is. In contrast, the slimmer the person is, the taller he/she appears than he/she is.

"Underestimation of the height of a top-heavy person"

The larger the relative head size is, the smaller he/she appears than he/she is.

"Castle wall"

Vertical edges appear to tilt clockwise or counterclockwise.

Copyright Akiyoshi Kitaoka 2008 (August 4)

"Curvature of square alignment"

Circles are aligned on a square contour but the alignment appears to curve inward.
