Jaan's report on the
visit to the Myoshinji Temple Kindergarten
The visit provided a very productive insight into the
intricate ways in which children are guided towards a general
value system. We observed two groups of children-- older 3-6 year
olds, and younger ones. It was remarkable to see the silent helpfulness
of the teachers, and the children's energy. The session of honoring
the Buddha was an excellent example of how children learn by participating
in meanings-full activity settings. The whole setting of the kindergarten
is providing the children the balanced social environment they
need most.
We were kindly treated to tea by the Director of the
kindergarten, and could improve our knowledge also about the intricate
art of making the best quality tea.
